Aside from the consolidation of GEA as a nationally and internationally recognized research group, hard work has been spent for the improvement and development of the Aeronautical Structures Laboratory, or LEA (from the Portuguese acronym: Laboratório de Estruturas Aeronáuticas), linked to the Aeronautical Engineering Department (EESC/USP). The LEA features areas for the manufacturing of solid composites and sandwich structures, as well as facilities for the mechanical testing of aeronautical structures under controlled temperature and humidity conditions.
In the computational domain, the group is equipped with a high-performance workstation primarily used for finite element analyses. Additional computational devices are utilized for controlling and post-processing experimental analyses.
